Mona visited and applied to 14 colleges, and got into all  (Ivy Leagues, a couple or more of the Seven Sisters, among others), except one - they wanted to accept her, but she didn't have a high school diploma (it was a requirement) ... because she had skipped 12th grade and gone straight to college. She had enough credits to do that. She picked Mount Holyoke without hesitation. She loved, loved that school. She was so proud to be there.

In Mount Holyoke Mona won the followings awards:
- The Kathryn Gray McFarland Memorial Prize for Creative Writing (2011), and
- The Mount Holyoke Psychology Department Award for Academic Excellence (2010 - 2011)

Mona was devastated when she wasn't able to graduate due to complications of a bad treatment, which could have easily been prevented.

Dear Ms. Haddad,

I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Mona, but many of my colleagues did and she sounds like an extraordinary person. I have shared your requests with her academic department and the alumnae association, so I am sure many of her friends will get the notification from you. As her mother, I can't imagine there is anything I can say at this moment, except I am so sorry. Your daughter was deeply loved and appreciated at Mount Holyoke, and will always be remembered.

Sincerely,
Marcella
